Renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity, Papua is home to around 50% of Indonesia’s plant and animal species, the iconic birds of paradise found nowhere else on Earth, and some of the richest marine ecosystems on the planet. This itinerary takes you to the spectacular Raja Ampat Islands, whose name means “Four Kings,” an archipelago famed for its pristine reefs, turquoise lagoons, and island hospitality. Beneath the surface lies an underwater paradise that contains approximately 75% of the world’s known coral species and holds the record for the highest number of fish species ever recorded during a single dive. Day 1: Arrival Sorong & Island Escape to the Island

A flight from Jakarta or Bali brings you to Sorong, a lively port city on the northwestern tip of Indonesia’s Bird’s Head Peninsula. During the Dutch colonial era, Sorong developed into an important oil-industry town, particularly after the oil boom of the 1930s under the Nederlands Nieuw-Guinea Petroleum Maatschappij (NNGPM).
Today, as the capital of Southwest Papua Province, Sorong serves as an important economic and transit hub for the region. It forms the gateway between modern development and the untouched natural paradise of Raja Ampat. Upon arrival at Domine Eduard Osok Airport, our team will welcome you and arrange your transfer to the resort, located in the heart of Raja Ampat’s Dampier Strait. Known as a luxurious eco-retreat, Sorido Bay blends adventure with comfort. Surrounded by lush jungle, turquoise waters, and the beauty of Cape Kri, the resort offers a secluded island feeling far away from the bustle of city life.

Sorido Bay features spacious sea-facing bungalows that combine rustic charm with modern amenities. The facilities are of a high standard, including air conditioning, private bathrooms with hot showers, a minibar, laundry service, and more—designed to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

Day 2: Lagoons, Viewpoints & Turquoise Waters

Highlights: Rufas Island, Piaynemo, Star Lagoon, and snorkeling opportunities.

The days ahead are dedicated to discovering the wonders of Raja Ampat, a breathtaking archipelago of emerald islands, turquoise waters, and some of the richest marine ecosystems on Earth. You will be picked up from the resort to begin your private island-hopping trip by private canopy boat. After approximately two hours by boat, you will arrive at Rufas Island, home to a breathtaking lagoon at the heart of the island. This natural swimming pool is framed by lush tropical greenery and calm turquoise water, making it ideal for swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing in paradise.

Next, continue to the iconic Piaynemo viewpoint near Fam Island, one of Raja Ampat’s most photographed landscapes. From the viewpoint, you can admire breathtaking views of karst islets scattered across brilliant blue water. Although Piaynemo is one of Raja Ampat’s most famous attractions, visits often still feel peaceful and intimate. In the Fam Island area, you will also visit Star Lagoon, named after its distinctive star-like
shape. This beautiful lagoon is perfect for sightseeing and, when conditions allow, snorkeling in the surrounding clear waters.

Day 3: Island Life, Manta Rays & Reef Snorkeling

Highlights: village visit, local handicrafts, snorkeling, Manta Point, and Yenbuba.

Today you will visit Arborek, a small and charming island in the heart of Raja Ampat. The village is known for its friendly community, traditional island life, and beautiful handmade crafts created from shells and palm leaves. During your visit, you can meet local residents, learn about their customs, and experience the warm hospitality that makes Arborek such a special part of Raja Ampat. After exploring Arborek, continue to Manta Point, located just east of the island. This site is one of Raja Ampat’s most memorable snorkeling locations. In the clear waters, you may see colorful coral gardens, schools of reef fish, and, with luck, the graceful manta rays that glide through the ocean with effortless elegance. Their size and movement create a truly awe-inspiring experience. The best time to see manta rays in Raja Ampat is between October and April.

Your journey then continues to Yenbuba, a peaceful village with beautiful reefs and a relaxed island atmosphere. The shallow snorkeling areas are suitable for beginners and loved by underwater enthusiasts. At low tide, small sandbanks may appear, creating a perfect place to take photos, walk along the sand, and watch small fish swimming in the clear water nearby.

Day 4: Village Culture & Pasir Timbul Sandbank

Today you will visit Sauwandarek, a local village on the southern side of Mansuar Island. Here, you can walk through the village, observe daily life, see the local school, and discover traditional handicrafts made from pandan leaves. The visit offers a meaningful glimpse into the culture and community life of Raja Ampat. Afterwards, continue to Pasir Timbul, just across from your resort. This beautiful white sand bank appears between the islands when the tide is low. Surrounded by clear blue water, this remote sandbank creates the feeling of standing alone in the middle of the ocean. It is a wonderful place for photos, a short stroll, and, when conditions allow, snorkeling in the surrounding area.

Day 5: Karts Islands, Hidden Bays & Coral Reefs

Today’s journey takes you to Kabui Bay, one of Raja Ampat’s most striking landscapes. The bay is famous for its dramatic limestone formations rising from the blue-green sea, creating a natural maze often described as a karst labyrinth. It is a spectacular area for cruising, sightseeing, and photography. The water in Kabui Bay is remarkably clear, allowing you to admire the underwater scenery directly from the boat. The area is also home to Batu Pensil, or Pencil Rock, an iconic limestone formation shaped like a tall pencil and one of the most photographed landmarks in the bay.Continue to Mioskon Island, also known as Bat Island because fruit bats can often be seen hanging in the trees during the day and flying around the island near sunset. Mioskon is also
known for its vibrant coral reefs, where snorkelers may spot clownfish, butterflyfish, and many other reef species. Its small white-sand beach, framed by lush vegetation, is perfect for a quiet picnic surrounded by untouched nature. The day ends at Friwen, a beautiful area known for its colorful reef wall, soft corals, sea
fans, sponges, and rich marine life. Thanks to the nutrient-rich waters of the Dampier Strait, the site supports an impressive variety of underwater species.

Day 6: Relax & Recharge at the resort

Enjoy a relaxing free day at Sorido Bay Resort and take in the peaceful island surroundings. You may spend the day breathing in the fresh sea air, swimming from the beach, enjoying the local cuisine, or simply unwinding at your own pace. After several days of island hopping, today also includes one scheduled massage session per person, offering the perfect opportunity to relax and recharge in comfort.

Day 7 - 14: Your Own Pace in Paradise

A free day at Sorido Bay Resort is all about embracing the luxury of time and the joy of choice. Imagine waking up with no schedule to follow, only the activities you decide for yourself. The morning begins with a delicious breakfast served against the backdrop of turquoise waters stretching endlessly before your eyes. From there, the day unfolds at your own pace—perhaps lounging on the private beach, snorkeling straight off the jetty, or
wandering through the lush greenery on a peaceful nature walk. For those drawn to the ocean, Sorido Bay’s renowned PADI 5-Star Dive Center offers courses for different levels, led by experienced instructors. Beginners can take their first steps into diving during their tropical holiday, while certified divers may book open-water dive trips or enjoy a jetty dive on Saturdays. Each dive reveals the magic of Raja Ampat’s Coral Triangle, an underwater paradise unlike anywhere else.

Day 15: Farewell to the Islands & Return to Sorong
