We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Sorong or directly from the airport, setting off on an unforgettable journey deep into the heart of Papua’s pristine rainforest. Your adventure begins with a thrilling 4WD ride through the lush landscapes of Sorong Regency, where every turn offers breathtaking views of untouched wilderness and exotic flora. The road can be in bad condition; hence, the 4WD jeep. It will take approx. 1.5 hours to reach our destination.
Arriving in Malasigi Village, you’ll be warmly welcomed by the Moi tribe, known for their rich cultural heritage. Experience their vibrant traditional dances and songs, a heartfelt greeting that instantly makes you feel at home. You’ll stay in a local village house, where simple accommodations with thin mattresses with basic bathroom facilities. We recommend bringing a sleeping bag liner for extra comfort, but due to the warm climate, a full sleeping bag is not necessary. If needed, a lightweight blanket can be purchased in town before heading into the rainforest.
In the afternoon, you'll embark on an exciting jungle trek through the dense rainforest surrounding Malasigi. After a 1-2 hour hike, you’ll arrive at the legendary display grounds of the Birds of Paradise, where these rare and stunning birds perform their mesmerizing courtship dances.
There are currently three observation towers, offering incredible views of various Birds of Paradise species, including:
✅ Lesser Bird of Paradise – Found deeper in the forest, playing high in the trees (make sure to bring your binoculars!)
✅ King Bird of Paradise – A rare gem that requires patience and a keen eye to spot.
✅ Twelve-Wired, Magnificent, and Rifle Birds of Paradise – observation from towers or hidden blinds near their display arenas.

Plan your birdwatching and jungle trekking adventures in advance with your guide to make the most of your time in this remote paradise. The jungle trails can be challenging and sometimes slippery, so be sure to wear sturdy, comfortable footwear.
For the best chances of spotting the majestic Birds of Paradise, birdwatching takes place twice a day—at sunrise and in the late afternoon, when these stunning creatures are most active, performing their mesmerizing courtship dances.
If you’re curious about local traditions, the Moi people will teach you their traditional fishing techniques. When the river is clear and the weather is favorable, it's the perfect time to try your luck at fishing. You’ll also learn how to prepare and cook fish using jungle leaves and fire, just as the locals have done for generations. This experience can also be enjoyed in the evening, when catching fish is often easier. Discuss options with your guide and create a personalized adventure.
You can also hike to a hidden cave or unwind in the river, where hot water naturally flows from a source nearby. Depending on the river tides and conditions, your guide will help plan the best time to explore these serene and refreshing spots

On your last day in the jungle, take the morning to soak in the sights and sounds of nature one last time. There’s still time for a final forest exploration, where you may catch a glimpse of rare wildlife or simply enjoy the peaceful serenity of nature.
In the afternoon, your 4WD jeep and guide will take you on the return journey through the rainforest, bringing you back to Sorong. You'll be dropped off at your hotel.
